Transforming Mardi Gras with Robotic Milling at Kern Studios

Rooted in the unique Mardi Gras culture of New Orleans, Kern Studios is the go-to company for creative props, custom floats, spectacular parades, and daring 3D advertising installations.

They create hundreds of floats and sculptures every year, and supply to big names like, Universal Studios, Disney, and Chick-fil-A. Kern studios bought their Robotic Milling system early 2016 and named it “Pixie”.

This Robotic Milling system, featuring a Kuka robot, sits on a 60ft fully programmable rail and is used to make anything from small props to full Mardi Gras floats with exceptional detail. “Pixie” has transformed their entire manufacturing capabilities, opening them up to all sorts of production possibilities.
